MISSION STATEMENT
The Elf Louise Christmas Project, Inc. is dedicated to bringing the joy of Christmas to the
children of our community who otherwise would be at risk of not celebrating
the Christmas season.

A BRIEF HISTORY
The Elf Louise Christmas Project began in 1969 when its founder, Louise Locker was a
student at Trinity University in San Antonio. After convincing the Postmaster to let her read
some of the letters to Santa, she realized that for many families in San Antonio, Christmas
just did not exist. With the help of family and friends, Louise collected and delivered presents
to the children in 13 families.

In 2020 the project provided gifts for 18,277 children in 5,620 families in San
Antonio and Bexar County community. Children and families are selected based on need
without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin or disability.

The Elf Louise Christmas Project, Inc. is an all-volunteer organization and is dependent
on generous donations by individual citizens and businesses in our community who
wish to share the joy of Christmas. Ninety-eight cents of every dollar donated goes to the
purchase, wrapping, and delivery of gifts to children.

The Elf Louise Christmas Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
