The Elf Louise Christmas Project is based on hope, faith, and a belief in people’s goodness. Elves who commit themselves to the continuation of the Project trust that those seeking assistance from the project are truly in need. They also trust that volunteers will come forward and donations will be received to meet the work and monetary needs for the coming season.

The Elves perform many small miracles as people from all walks of life donate time, talent, toys, and monetary gifts. Much of this occurs very serendipitously; spontaneity is an important element that allows each participant to know their contribution is meaningful and matters.

The Elf Louise Christmas Project receives support from businesses, media, churches, social and civic organizations, and private individuals throughout the city, county, and surrounding area. The Project succeeds because of its unique nature, the social services application process, the jovial Santa delivery teams, the personalization of each gift, and the all-volunteer commitment.

The Elf Louise Christmas Project is a grassroots organization. It is 100% volunteer-driven, with no paid staff and overhead below 5% of total contributions. Each year, the workshop is housed in a central location so that people from all areas of San Antonio and Bexar County can volunteer and share the joy of Christmas. The project does not expect one group to raise all the money, supply all the Santa Teams, or purchase all the gifts. Small donations are welcomed and encouraged. Every little bit helps!

The Elves believe in respect for all persons, especially the recipients. They protect the recipients’ feelings and pride while providing gifts to delight the children.
